Our
Weeklong Intensive workshops are designed to provide
emotional healing for those suffering from anorexia,
bulimia or compulsive eating. The workshop consists
of group therapy, lectures, films, psychodrama,
experiential therapy and family sculpture techniques.
Abstinent meals are served.
Client population for the workshop may include:
Those
recovering from an eating disorder or those who have
an eating disorder and have relapsed or are in pre-relapse.
Those who think they may have an eating disorder,
but have not fully acknowledged it.
Those who want to renew their decision to recover.
Those
who are in the early stages of an eating disorder
and do not require residential treatment.
Participants
will:
- Identify
the problem.
- Receive education.
- Participate in body
imaging.
- Realize the role of
family dynamics.
- Receive nutritional training and
a food plan.
- Learn to let food assume its proper place in life.
Admission:
Participants
must be actively involved in a 12-step program, working
with a therapist on a regular basis, or willing to begin
one of the two.
Accommodations:
Workshop
participants are housed in the charming Once
Upon a Time Bed & Breakfast, located one
block from the Shades of Hope campus. Meals are served
in the Campus
Dining Room and daily workshop sessions are held
in the backyard "bunkhouse" on the Once Upon a Time property. Transportation is provided during the workshop.
